Ken Cranes recently announced their plans to restructure the company and close 4 of their locations. Putting the news in perspective, CEO Casey Crane noted that, "Over the past 60 years, we have opened a total of 28 stores, and have closed or relocated over 20 of these stores for various reasons. This decision was not made lightly, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience, confusion, and hardship it may cause. California's Energy Commission has proposed legislation designed to reduce energy usage by big screen TVs by 2010, effectively taking 25% of big screen TVs off the market. In an industry where manufacturers are already producing energy efficient and Energy Star compliant products, the CEC's proposal will reduce state tax revenue and cost many jobs.
