I worked at Ken Cranes from 1995 to 1999 as their graphic designer. I loved going down to Ken's office and sitting there listening to his stories about how he got started in business and about the old days. I miss the people that I worked with and the atmosphere. Big Stores Really Don't Care
I'm sorry to hear of your closing. I always enjoyed a trip or two to the store on Beach Blvd. When I came to town, you had great staff that knew the equipment that you sold. That is why I went to you and never to the big shops such as Target or Wal-Mart, they know nothing and really don't care so I never shop in them. Again, sorry to hear this news - your store and employees will be missed. - T.D.
Stores Like Yours Are Rare
I was shocked this weekend when I drove past your Encino store and saw the bad news. I stopped in to see what was available but you had done such a good job outfitting our new home two years ago that we didn't need anything now.
I saw the Times article today and just wanted to wish you luck. Stores like yours with good staff, good service and good prices are rare. It's a shame to lose you. - D.S.

Thanks For Years of Service
After purchasing many a TV from you guys over the years, it is was sadness that you are hanging it up. My own career was in electronics working for Motorola and I think that the knowlegable salesperson is a dying species.
Unbeatable Service
I am so sorry to have read in this morning's paper about your closing. My mother bought her first TV from your Encino store many years ago.
The service was unbeatable and remained that way all the years you were in business. My mother had a visual problem and so the color in the TV was never set correctly. Your service department made many trips to her house to try and help her.
Since then, because of this service, many of my friends and myself have purchased TV sets from your store.
I can only guess how sad this is for you but please keep in mind the happiness you gave to your customers.

The Best Aspects of Dealing with Ken Crane's
In late September, 2009, my husband and I began shopping for a new home theater system to improve upon our 7 year old equipment. We spoke with several friends and neighbors who had large-screen televisions to get their advice. Although none of them suggested Ken Crane's, a full-page ad in a local newspaper enticed us to visit your store in Torrance. We had already scheduled - and paid $100.! - for an in-home visit by another store when we discovered that your salesman, Chuck Rader, was willing to come to our house on his day off from work, to see what equipment we needed in order to give us an accurate estimate. Chuck was able to determine which components we had that would not need replacement, and suggest appropriate upgrades. We received his estimate within a day or so. The price was excellent and backed-up by your price guarantee; needless to say, we cancelled the visit from the competitor.
The following week our electronics were delivered and brought into the family room by your men. The very next day, two installers arrived and spent much of the day doing their magic. The most amazing thing was that they were able to snake the cable through the wall without making any holes that would show or need patching! Considering that our wall has a custom sponged finish, that would have been some trouble to repair and we were grateful for their skill. The two men were so patient and polite, teaching me how to utilize the remote and other equipment. It was so much easier than the difficult remote we had previously! In fact, I have had installers back two more times to add or make adjustments to features, and they were all wonderful. Besides their technical expertise, I like how they removed all the boxes and waste, leaving us to simply enjoy our new system.
One of the best aspects of dealing with Ken Crane's was the "one-stop-shopping" from start to finish. From salespeople to schedulers to delivery men to installers to customer service after the sale, everything was taken care of; we did not have to hire any other contractors. And, every person we dealt with at each of these levels was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. We are very impressed, and this is certainly not true for this business in general.
We will recommend Ken Crane's to anyone we know who is in the market for electronics, and you may show this letter to anyone you wish, as well. I have never written a letter like this before, but the caliber of service from your company motivated me to put it in writing.

Great System at an Incredible Value
We are not 'techies' or early adopters, but we wanted a decent system to carry us into the future. Thomas, our salesperson, asked us a lot of questions and then offered us ideas and we finally selected an excellent system which more than met our space and viewing requirements. My appreciation
Sal of your Pasadena store is fabulous. He was extremely helpful at the time of purchase. However, he was amazing when it came to delivery. My father has been critically ill and Sal arranged for my delivery to be first thing in the morning so I could go to the hospital afterwards. I can't say enough to convey my appreciation. -S.O.
Best Interests In Mind
I have been in the store a number of times with questions, measurements, etc., and I must say if it was not for Eddie and his patience and due diligence each time I had new concerns, I don't know what I would have done. I was never made to feel that my questions were unimportant or annoying. Eddie built up my trust and I always felt that he had my best interests in mind. Not once did I get the sense that he was doing a 'high-pressure' job to get the sale. -B.J.

Good Salesman
A few weeks ago, I was all set to buy two flat screens from the West LA Best Buy. Saw your ad in the Sunday paper and decided to check prices at your Westwood store on Pico. Fortunately, the salesman who was up when I walked in turned out to be Eddie Nalbandian. For all the negative things you hear about sales people, the truth is a good one is incredibly valuable to both the customer and the store owner. Eddie was great! He helped my understand the difference between plasma and LCDs, set up installation for a wall mount and sold me some extras that I was happy to buy once he explained their value. Now, I don't think I was easy either. I went away and did my research but in the end, it wasn't a dollar decision but a customer service one. In fact it turned out one of the sets looked smaller in my house than I realized. Eddie arranged for an exchange to a bigger one that looks just right. Why, even the installation team were first rate. I will definitely be recommending Ken Crane's to friends and to ask for Eddie. - MK

I teach customer relations to the employees of several large corporations, including one of your competitors! When I visited your Pasadena recently to compare prices, the gentleman who helped me, Derrick Johnson, was superb. Knowledge and Professionalism
I remember as a child watching my Mother buy her stereo console and televisions at your Torrance store. My wife and I bought our first TV there as well.
